Christmas within our hearts

“Christmas is the day that holds all time together” Alexander Smith

Christmas is a great time for families. As for us, this has always been our family’s most awaited and our most favorite time of the year. As a normal FIlipino family, we started preparing the Christmas season by setting up different decorations inside our house. Attending the 9 simbang gabi’s is also a part of our necessary things to do during this time of the year. The preparing for our noche buena was also so fun, especially if everyone is helping. Staying up until 12 midnight while having a countdown, waiting for the day our Christ was born.

During daytime, we are inviting our uncles, aunts and cousins together for lunch. A day that consists of laughter, hugs and is full of so many different stories to tell. It is a very special day for it is a time where all of us are complete, and a time where we all lend time to celebrate the birth of our uncle. We have our own salo-salo, drinking of wine, having the karaoke, having so many chika’s then falling asleep afterwards. A great time to express our feelings towards each other. A very happy day for us cousin’s, for we fall in line and wait for our uncles and aunts to give us the so called ‘red envelope’.

If you ask my how my Christmas went? Well it had been full of happiness, just like how those past years went by. It didn’t bore me for I am with the people whom I feel very comfortable to be with. Christmas is gift giving, yet above all it is giving love towards your fellow, for God gives us an everlasting love that up until now will always be part of what we are as a person.
